Alferov Zhores Ivanovich

Was granted the title of “Minsk Honorary Citizen” in 2002. Alferov Zhores Ivanovich, Byelorussian, in 1947 graduated from the secondary school 42 in Minsk, then studied in the Byelorussian Polytechnic Institute. Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Nobel Prize Winner in physics in 2001.


Antonov Ignaty Petrovich

Was granted the title in 1988. Mr. Antonov is a professor, Doctor of Medicine, National Academy Member, high-class specialist in the field of neurology. During World War II took part in the liberation of Minsk.
 


Barashkin Dmitry Ivanovich

Was granted the honorary title in 1968. Mr. Barashkin – Hero of Socialist Labour, steel founder of Minsk Automobile Plant since 1944 (the beginning of its construction), author of blast furnace modernization.

The director of Coaches High School, a four-time fencing Olympic Champion. Was granted the title of 'Minsk Honorary Citizen' in 2007 for making an important contribution to fencing in Belarus.

Hero of the Soviet Union, former commander of the 2-d Guards tank Corps which distinguished itself durinf the liberation of Minsk from the German-Nazi occupants. Was granted the honorary title in 1967.

Was granted the honorary title October, 14, 2003 for the immense personal share into the public life of Minsk, spiritual revival of the Byelorussian society, into the dialogue between church and state, bringing up mercy and human values in people, reconstruction of the cathedrals in Minsk.

The Director-General of State Scientific Establishment 'United Institute of Machine Building of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus', General Designer on Automotive Techniques of the Republic of Belarus, the Hero of Belarus, member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus, Doctor of Technical Science, professor. Visotsky was granted the title of 'Minsk Honorary Citizen' for making an important contribution to the social, economical, scientific and technical development of Minsk, to the mechanic engineering, invention of competitive research and development projects, active citizenship.

Hero of the Socialist Labour, deserved constructor of the BSSR. Was granted the honorary title in 1987.


Grigoryev Yury Panteleymonovich

The First Deputy Chief Architect of Moscow, the director of the Moscow Research and Design Institute of Typology and Experimental Design, People's Architect of Russia, Honored Architect of Belarus. Grigoryev was awarded the title of 'Minsk Honorary Citizen' for developing ties between Moscow and the Republic of Belarus in the field of architecture and municipal construction, the great contribution to the creation of a business and cultural centre of Belarus in Russia's capital.


Elizaryev Valentin Nikolaevich

People’s Artist of the USSR and Belarusian SSR, Merited Man of Arts of Belarusian SSR, National Prize Winner, Academician of the International Slav Academy and Peter’s Academy of Sciences and Arts, Professor of the Belarusian State Academy of Music. On October 18, 2007 was granted the title of 'Minsk Honorary Citizen' for making an important contribution to the choreographic art of Belarus.

Hero of the Socialist Labour, former minister of the industrial construction of the BSSR. Was granted the honorary title in 1969.


Kolychev Nikolay Ivanovich

Was granted the honorary title in 1967. Mr.Kolychev is a Hero of the Soviet Union, commander of tank platoon, one of the first liberators of Minsk in 1944, on the 3d of July of 1944 he saved from the Nazi destruction the unique bridge across the river Svisloch.

Was granted the title in 1987. Mr. Losik – Hero of the Soviet Union, Marshal of armoured troops. He was a commander of armoured brigade that liberated Minsk from the German occupation in 1944.

Eminent composer of Belarus and ex-USSR. Author of a great number of songs and musical compositions. The 5th of October of 1999 his star was installed in the Square of Stars in Moscow.

Mikhail Pavlov, the Chairman of Minsk City Executive Committee (2000-2009), a "Merited Worker of Industry of the Republic of Belarus", Candidate of Engineering Sciences. Mikhail Pavlov was granted the title of "Minsk Honorary Citizen" in 2009 for making an important contribution to the social, economical, scientific, technical and cultural development of the capital of the Republic of Belarus – Minsk, for improving the city’s image in the international arena, facilitating business and cultural contacts with other cities and regions.


Savitski Mikhail Andreevich

Was granted the title in 2001. Outstanding artist of Belarus and USSR. During World War II was captured by the Nazi as war prisoner. Survived in the death camp. Mikhail Savitski is an author of the series of shocking pictures dedicated to the tragedy of war, patriotism and force of human spirit.

Was granted the title in 2000. Famous actor of the USSR. During 42 years of his career he brilliantly played more than 100 roles in the Russian Academic Drama Theatre in Minsk.

The artistic director of the Syabry music band of the Philharmonic Society of the Order of the Red Banner of Labour, People’s Artist of Belarus. On October 18, 2007 was granted the title of 'Minsk Honorary Citizen' for great personal contributions to the development of the national culture, preservation and propagation of the best musical traditions.
