06 May 2010 → CIS Youth Symphony Orchestra to perform at UN Headquarters

The CIS Youth Symphony Orchestra will play a concert dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War at the UN Headquarters in New York on 7 May, BelTA learnt from the spokesman for the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation (IFHC) Alexander Kalugin.

Established in 2007, the CIS Youth Symphony Orchestra is one of the most prominent IHFC projects. The orchestra brings together talented musicians from the CIS countries and Georgia. Among the members of the orchestra are eleven Belarusian musicians.

This year the orchestra will be conducted by the People’s Artist of the USSR Vladimir Spivakov. Taking part in the concert will be also classical music celebrity Denis Matsuev.

The concert is organized by the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN and the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation under the auspices of the permanent missions of the CIS countries to the UN.

The CIS Youth Symphony Orchestra is set to perform at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on 10 May. Taking part in the concert will be Ukrainian piano-player Alexander Gavrilyuk.
