29 July 2010 → Junior Eurovision to gather young talents from 14 countries in Minsk in November

Young talents aged 10-15 from 14 countries will compete at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Minsk on 20 November, representatives of Belarusian Teleradiocompany told BelTA.

Latvia and Moldova will debut at the eighth junior Eurovision. The Lithuanian company LRT and the Swedish one SVT will re-enter the contest after a lengthy break. The number of competing countries will increase by one in comparison with Kyiv’s junior Eurovision last year.

The competitors are Belarus (BTRC), Armenia (AMPTV), Belgium (VRT), Macedonia (MKRTV), Georgia (GEGT), Latvia (LTV), Lithuania (LRT), Malta (PBS), Moldova (TRM), the Netherlands (AVRO), Russia (RTR), Serbia (RTS), Sweden (SVT), and Ukraine (NTU).

Belarusian Teleradiocompany has been entrusted with arranging the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Minsk. Eurovision Executive Supervisor Svante Stockselius said: “Belarusian colleagues are preparing a tremendous show for millions of families across Europe. Apart from the best young performers of the continent participating in the magnificent show we are preparing an unforgettable week full of joy and friendship for all the participants”.

Ralf Mackenbach’s Click Clack song from the Netherlands was named the best at the junior Eurovision song contest in Kyiv in 2009. Unlike in Eurovision where the winning country is entitled to arranging the next year’s show, in junior Eurovision it is the European Broadcasting Union that chooses the country for a next year contest.
