01 March 2017 → Georgian President laid a wreath at the Victory Monument in Minsk
On March 1, President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili laid a wreath at the Victory Monument in the capital, the "Minsk-news" agency reports.
In Victory Square the honorable guest was met by Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Andrei Shorets. The ceremony was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Belarus David Kotharia, members of the Georgian delegation and Pavel Skalaban, Head of the Main Department of Ideological work, Culture and Youth Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
The participants in the ceremony laid flowers to the Eternal Flame at the base of the obelisk and paid tribute to the fallen in the Great Patriotic War.
Today, March 1, at the Palace of Independence there were held official talks of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili. The parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation focusing on the intensification of trade and economic cooperation. As explained in the press-service of the Belarusian leader, the program of the official visit of the President of Georgia also envisages meetings with the leadership of the Government of Belarus, the National Assembly, visits to a number of organizations and socio-cultural facilities.
