11 August 2017 → Secrets of cooking Belarusian draniki will be revealed at the fair near the Sports Palace
To taste draniki (pancakes made of grated potatoes) and learn the secrets of their cooking will be possible at the Fair "Minsk Dranik" on August 12 and 13, the "Minsk-Novosti" Agency correspondent was informed in the Main Department of the Consumer Market of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
For two days a large area near the Sports Palace will serve as a huge food court where in full view of the participants in the Fair draniki with various fillings will be cooked, and which will turn into a contest of professional skills in cooking original draniki. In addition, for the guests of the Fair there will be organized master classes in cooking dishes of Belarusian cuisine.
"Draniki are cooked in different countries, but Belarusian ones have gained special popularity due to the national culinary secrets and properties of our potatoes. The trading and catering enterprises of the capital are ready to share their secrets of cooking delicious pancakes. The best addition to hot crispy potato fritters will be fresh sour cream, cream, greens, mushroom sauce, butter, cracklings, shish kebab, home-made sausages", said an official of the Main Department of the Consumer Market of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
During the Week of Belarusian cuisine that was held in Minsk, "Draniki with sausage made in a country style" were very popular. Their recipe is simple: take 1 kg of potatoes, 150 g of flour, 2 onions, 2 eggs, 1 tbsp. of mayonnaise or sour cream, a pinch of salt. Then grate crude peeled potatoes and onions, add flour, salt, eggs, mayonnaise (sour cream). All is carefully mixed and put in a frying pan with vegetable oil, preheated to 150-160 degrees Centigrade. Fry on both sides until a brown crust is formed. Draniki are served with sausages and sour cream sauce.
Many more recipes will become known at the Fair "Minsk Dranik".
