03 March 2010 → Minsk to host climate change conference 4 March
A round table conference, Information Needs Assessment within the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, will take place in Minsk on 4 March. The conference will be held as part of the joint project of the European Union and the UN Development Program “Building capacity for Strategic environmental assessment and implementation of environmental conventions in Belarus,” coordinator of the project Vyacheslav Smirnov, told BelTA.
The participants of the conference are set to discuss the report on the information needs assessment within the UN Framework convention on climate change and get familiar with the results of the Copenhagen summit that was dedicated to the implementation of the convention.
Taking part in the conference will be officials from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, coordinators of the EN and UNDP joint project, members of the Belarusian Science and Research Center Ecology, and a NGO organisation, APB BirdLife Belarus.
The project “Building capacity for Strategic environmental assessment and implementation of environmental conventions in Belarus” is implemented under the guidance of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.
