15 September 2009 → Minsk to host international conference timed to 60th anniversary of signing Geneva conventions of 1949On 16 September, Minsk will host the international conference timed to the 60th anniversary of signing the Geneva conventions for protection of war victims of 1949 which are the basis of the international humanitarian law, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian Justice Ministry. The conference is expected to discuss the issues of the humanitarian law related to the history of the Geneva conventions and implementation of the Geneva conventions. Attending the conference will be representatives of the state bodies and organizations, researchers from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, representatives of the regional delegations of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Russian Federation, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine, members of Council of Ministers’ commission for implementation of the international humanitarian law. On the eve of the conference, the Resources Center for International Humanitarian Law will open on the base of the International Institute of Labor and Social Relations. The conference will be organized under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross and Council of Ministers’ commission for implementation of the international humanitarian law.
