16 October 2009 → Crop yield issues to be discussed at Minsk conferenceThe issues of plants cultivation and productivity including the ways of increasing crop yield will be discussed at an international conference in Minsk on 28-30 October, BelTA learnt from Nikolai Laman, Director of the V.F. Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Attending the forum will be more than 100 specialists from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Tajikistan. The conference will highlight the issues of photosynthesis, inorganic nutrition and water exchange in agricultural and forest plants. The scientists will consider the methods of growing young forest plants, potato mini-tubers and sprouts. The participants of the conference are planning to discuss the seed germination mechanisms and preseeding treatment to enhance resistance of agricultural plants to stress factors (pests, diseases, high and low temperatures). The forum has been organized by the V.F. Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The conference “Growth control, development and productivity of plants” is held in Minsk once in two years. The first conference took place in 1999.
