23 October 2009 → Minsk-Tehran direct flight to be launchedA direct flight between Minsk and Tehran will be launched, Tehran Governor Morteza Tamaddon told reporters at the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee on 23 October. The preliminary agreement on launching the direct flight was reached during the visit of the Iranian delegation to Belarus. The Minister of Transport and Communication of Iran is expected to come to Minsk soon to discuss the details of operating the direct flight between Minsk and Tehran. According to the Governor of Tehran Province, the new flight would facilitate the development of trade and tourism. More Belarusians could see Iran and more Iranians could travel to Belarus. “We are interested in developing cooperation in the tourism area, we see a great potential here. We intend to implement joint projects in this area,” Morteza Tamaddon said. He informed that the sides held meetings at the Belarusian Ministry of Sport and Tourism to discuss the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two states.
