17 November 2009 → Belarus, China setting up first joint innovation center
A general agreement on setting up the first Belarusian-Chinese innovation center was signed in Harbin, BelTA learnt from Olga Shchedrina, head of the press service of Belarusian State University (BSU).
The center is set up for the implementation of state innovation development programs of the two countries. Its major goal will be to coordinate and assist the execution of joint innovation projects, introduction of new high-tech products into the economy of China and Belarus, transfer of technologies. The center is to be opened in June 2010 at an exhibition of scientific achievements of the Belarusian university in Harbin.
The agreement was signed during a visit of a delegation of the Education Ministry of Belarus to China. The delegation consisted of BSU pro-rector for research Oleg Ivashkevich and head of the BSU department for international affairs Vyacheslav Leonov. They held negotiations with the senior officials of the Department for Science and Technology of the People’s Government of Harbin on joint measures to enhance efficiency of the sci-tech cooperation between Belarusian State University and scientific and industrial organizations of the town. The People’s Government of Harbin is to provide all possible assistance to the activity of the innovation center.
