10 December 2009 → IOM, Belarusian and Latvian border services to discuss programs of voluntary return of migrants

On 9-11 December, Belarus is playing host to a working session of representatives of the border services of Belarus, Latvia and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), BelTA learnt from Oleg Anatsky, head of the press service of the Lida border guard detachment.

Representatives of the State Border Guard of Latvia arrived in Minsk on 9 December. They met with officials of the Belarus State Border Committee, visited an expert and criminal laboratory and a refugee center.

On 10 December, representatives of the border services of Belarus, Latvia and the International Organization for Migration will take part in a meeting to discuss the programmes of voluntary return of migrants.

On 11 December, the session will be continued in Lida (Grodno oblast). The participants of the session will get familiar with the work of the Lida border guard detachment and visit the international border checkpoint Benyakoni.
