16 February 2010 → Belarus, Japan to hold Peace For Future conference in Minsk
Belarus and Japan are going to hold an international conference, Peace For Future, dedicated to youth problems. The possibility of this event was discussed at the meeting between chairperson of the Belarusian association of friendship and cultural relations with foreign countries Nina Ivanova and chairman of the board of the Japan-Eurasian Countries Association Hiroshi Kubota and Professor Masanao Takeda, president of the Sapporo office of the Japan-Eurasian Countries Association, on 15 February.
Taking part in the forum will be representatives of about twenty countries, including the CIS and EU states.
A delegation of the Japan-Eurasian Countries Association is in Belarus on a visit on 14-16 February. The foreign guests attended a Belarusian-Japanese soiree at the House of Friendship on 15 February. The students of the Belarusian State University, who study Japanese, were reciting Yakub Kolas’ My Native Land poem in Belarusian and Japanese.
The Japanese language teacher Akira Furusava praised the interest of Belarusian youngsters in Japanese culture and literature. Member of the board of the Belarus-Japan association and chairman of the Nagasaki Bell memorial fund Yury Popov told the audience about the history of this monument in Independence Square.
The attendees of the soiree also enjoyed an exhibition by Japanese artist Ando Hiroshige and a music show by the teachers of the Maxim Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University.
