19 April 2010 → Minsk war veterans leaving for St Petersburg
A delegation of veterans of the Great Patriotic War from Minsk is leaving for Saint Petersburg on 19 April, BelTA learnt from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
The Belarusian delegation consists of seven people and is led by head of the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Public Association of Veterans Anatoly Adonyev.
The program of the visit that will last from 19 to 23 April is packed with events. Apart from the reception at the Petrograd district administration, the visit features meetings with the leaders of the public association of veterans of the Petrograd district, activists of the public organization “The residents of the besieged Leningrad”. The Belarusian veterans will also visit military burial sites and monuments. High on the agenda will be the discussion of the role of veterans’ organizations in enhancing the social security of veterans and the preparation for the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory. Belarusian veterans will share best practices employed by veterans’ associations of Belarus.
The visits of veterans are held within the framework of intergovernmental agreements. The money for the trips are allocated from the national budget.
Delegations of Belarusian veterans are going to visit Volgograd and Kyiv for the Victory celebrations. The Ministry of Labor and Social Security informed that the delegation consisting of seven veterans (mainly from the Gomel Oblast) will go to Volgograd, while Kyiv will receive a delegation of eight veterans from the Grodno, Brest and Gomel oblasts.
