11 August 2010 → Digital technology center to open in Minsk in October 2010

A digital technology training center will open at the High-Tech Park in Minsk with the assistance of the Indian government in October 2010, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Belarus Ramesh Chander told a press conference in Minsk.

The ambassador reminded that the memorandum of intentions to set up the center was signed in September 2009 during a visit of the Indian Foreign Minister to Belarus.

Ramesh Chander said that Belarus joined the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program. Every year Belarusian citizens are offered a variety of training courses in India. The program is aimed to share knowledge and expertise in the area of human resources, technology and science with friendly states.

According to the diplomat, Belarus and India have developed excellent relations in culture and education. According to the information he possesses, about 400 Indian students study at Belarusian medical universities and other educational institutions. Ramesh Chander is convinced that the two states can deepen cooperation in this area.

He also pointed out to a great interest in Indian culture in Belarus. More and more people want to study Hindi; about 500 young people in Minsk alone attend Indian dance classes. The ambassador added that many Belarusian girls come to India to take part in musicales and cheerleading performances at football and basketball matches.
