Logo, Moskovsky District Administration

Moskovsky District was founded by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR in 1977 due to downsizing Oktyabrsky and Frunzensky Districts of Minsk. The district is located in the south-western part of the capital.

The area of Moskovsky District makes up 3 thousand hectares. The district includes micro-districts of old buildings, four residential micro-districts under the name of "Yugozapad", nine residential micro-districts under the name of "Malinovka", newly-built residential micro-districts called "Brilevichi" and "Mikhalovo".

The population of Moskovsky District makes up 281.76 thousand people, of whom 62 thousand people are people under 31 years of age (22.5%), 50.3 thousand people are pensioners (18.3%). About one thousand large families live in the district.

The district has:
  • House of the Government of the Republic of Belarus, ministries and different offices, the Minsk City Executive Committee;
  • 4 higher educational establishments;
  • 24 institutions of culture
  • 614 sports facilities
  • 20 religious organizations (3 Orthodox Churches, 3 Roman Catholic Churches, 3 Full Gospel Christian Churches, 4 Churches of Evangelical Faith Christians and others)
  • 17 public health institutions
  • "Minsktrans" state enterprise, Bus depot No 5 and Trolleybus depot No 3, "Minsk Metro" unitary enterprise, "Avtotaxoervice" JSC, "Avtosila" JSC.
  • 46 major industrial enterprises, the largest of which are: "Belmedpreparaty" republican unitary enterprise, "Horizont" JSC, "Minsk Railway Carriage Works " unitary enterprise, "Galanteya" JSC, "Minsk Silicate Products Factory" JSC, "Vitex" close corporation, "Sivelga" close corporation, etc.
The main products that are produced by the district enterprises are medicines, leather goods, footwear, materials for industrial and civil construction, perfumes, cosmetics, etc.
