02 August 2017 → The Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup Stage will bring together participants from 23 countries

The Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup Stage BSB Bank, which will be held in Minsk from 4 to 6 August, will gather 126 athletes from 23 countries, the organizers of the event informed the "Minsk-Novosti" Agency.

For the second time running the tournament will be held by the sports and entertainment complex Falcon Club. At the competitions in the individual program, Belarus will be presented by Yekaterina Galkina and Alina Gornosko. In group exercises, the honor of the country will be defended by Anastasia Rybakova, Mariya Kotyak, Anna Gaydukevich, Anna Shvaiba, Margarita Ovadinskaya and Arina Tsitsilina.

Also, the audience will be able to evaluate the performances of Alexandra Soldatova and Julia Bravikova from Russia, Victoria Mazur from Ukraine, Neviana Vladivova from Bulgaria and others.

The two-time Olympic champion Anastasia Bliznyuk will come to Minsk to join the group. During the competition, the President of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), the Japanese, Morinari Watanabe, will visit Belarus.

“It's nice that we are given an opportunity to once again plunge into the atmosphere of the Falcon Club. I think that a year ago many spectators attended the World Cup stage and were delighted with the situation on the court and the stands. We will try to arrange everything in the way that all the participants who are going to come to Minsk can please the audience with their skills on the eve of the World Cup to be held at the end of August in the Italian city of Pesaro”, Iryna Leparskaya, Head Coach of the national team of Belarus in rhythmic gymnastics told the journalists. “There will also be a traditional gala show of gymnastics stars on August 6 - the final day of the World Cup. The difference is that if in previous years it was a separate event that was held a couple of hours after the end of the competitive program, now the gala performance will be started right after the solemn awarding ceremony”, she continued.

Answering the question about medal appetites of the Belarusian team at the home stage of the World Cup, I. Leparskaya noted that the team always strives for the maximum result.

"We do not make any medal plans, but we work from morning till night to win these awards," the Head Coach emphasized. “There are only three medals however the appetites of all are enormous. The competition is going to be very tense. And we will do everything possible and impossible that these medals can be ours, but we will not plan anything in advance”, she added.

It would be recalled that a year ago at the similar tournament in Falcon Club, the Belarusian team won 7 medals. In the individual program of the all-round competitions Melitina Stanyuta (already finished her sports career) won a bronze award. In the finals of individual species, Melitina had three more medals: two bronzes in exercises with ball and clubs and silver with a hoop.

In group exercises the team rose to the highest step of the podium twice: in the all-around, and also on the basis of the composition with six clubs and two hoops. In the contest with five ribbons, Belarusian girls took silver awards.
