This year, the Days of Minsk will be held in Tbilisi, Budapest and St. Petersburg. This was reported by the First Deputy Head of the Main Department of Ideological Work, Culture and Youth Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee - the Head of the Department of Culture Vitalina Rudikova on February 9 at the final board in the Town Hall, "Minsk-Novosti" Agency correspondent reports.
V. Rudikova also noted that 2018 will be the year of preparation of the city for the II Minsk International Festival of Circus Art. The first such festival was held in the Belarusian capital in September 2017 and gathered artists from 16 countries.
Summarizing the results of the past year, V. Rudikova emphasized that the year of 2017 entered the history of the country as the Year of Science and the year of entry into force of the Code of Belarus on Culture. The year will also be remembered by the opening of important social facilities, as well as by large-scale projects in the sphere of culture.
"It was a jubilee year for Minsk which marked the 950th anniversary", V. Rudikova said. "During the year a book about the history of the city - "Minsk through the Centuries" was published, a large scientific and practical conference - "Minsk and Minsk Citizens: Ten Centuries of History" was held. The conference gathered more than 100 participants from different countries of the world. A whole series of events was held under the banner of the 500th anniversary of Belarusian printing. This date is included in the calendar of UNESCO memorials", she continued.
In 2017, for the maintenance of cultural institutions in Minsk there was allocated more than 43 million rubles from the city budget; about 30 million rubles was received from extra-budgetary activities. Earnings from extra-budgetary activities were directed to socially protected expenditure items, development and strengthening of the material and technical base of cultural institutions. The task of increasing the export of services in the sphere of culture was fulfilled. In 2017, this figure was 125.3%, or nearly 500 thousand dollars (with the target of 102%).
Last year, at the Minsk theaters there were shown more than 1,260 performances, including 26 new ones. Tours of theater groups of the city were held in Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Lithuania, and Poland.
During the year of 2017, the two museums which are in the communal property of Minsk organized 87 exhibitions and 150 cultural and educational events. The museums were visited by more than 130 thousand Minsk citizens and guests of the capital.
During the past year the libraries of the capital were visited by more than 2.2 million readers, over 5.2 million copies of literature were given out. Last year, the libraries of the city registered more than 300 thousand readers. More than 8 thousand events that were organized by the libraries were dedicated to anniversary dates.
In 2017 the Days of Minsk were held in Belgrade, Moscow and Omsk.
