12 February 2018 → Tourists have already purchased 31 guest cards
In 2018 tourists have already purchased 31 guest cards and 38 more applications have been sent, said, as it is reported by the "Minsk-Novosti" Agency correspondent, Boris Vasiliev, Director of the UE "Mingorspravka", at an operational meeting in the Minsk City Executive Committee held on February 12.
It should be recalled that sales of guest cards started in January.
Guest cards were purchased by citizens of Norway, France, the Czech Republic, Italy, China, and Russia. Most of these tourists visited the Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War, the National Art Museum, the Museum of the History of the City of Minsk, the Museum "Country Mini" and the observation deck of the National Library.
"The guest card is a single electronic card which includes the right to visit museums and excursions, transport tickets, profitable offers and discounts of companies participating in this project", specified B. Vasiliev. "By purchasing a guest card, the tourist receives a plastic smart card and a guide", he added.
Three types of cards are available: for 24, 48 and 72 hours. It gives the right to a free or one-time visit (at a discount) to 37 museums of which 14 museums are located outside the capital (the Belarusian State Museum of Folk Architecture and Life, the Museum-estate of M.K. Oginsky, the museum and ethnographic complex "Zabrodye" ...). 13 institutions can be visited free of charge, including the History Museum of Minsk, the Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War, the National Art Museum, the National Historical Museum, the Yanka Kupala State Literary Museum, and the zoo.
In addition, 16 hotels, 6 public catering facilities, 8 commercial networks uniting more than 50 shops, companies that organize bus excursions around the city (Minsk City Tour and Open Minsk), 2 firms offering car rental, and 1 - bicycle rental have joined the project . The guest card grants its owner the right to receive discounts up to 20% in hotels, restaurants, cafes, shops as well as for car and bike rental.
The guide lists the conditions for visiting each facility and gives a brief description of them. In the booklet there is also a map of the city with the designation of the amenities.
The guest card is also an electronic travel card that gives the right to 10 trips by subway, and also - within the time specified on it - the right for unlimited travel by bus, trolleybus, tram.
A guest card can be purchased in two ways – by placing an order through the website www.minskpass.by and getting it through the points of sale, and also by purchasing directly at points of sale. Currently, it is sold at points of sail of the UE "Mingorspravka" at the railway station and in the Upper City, at the information and tourist center "Minsk" located at 13 Revolutsionnaya Street. In the first quarter of 2018, a point of sales will be opened at the Minsk National Airport, and in the first half-year – at 11 Bogdanovich Street.
"In the first quarter of 2018, we are planning to issue a guest card without a ticket", B. Vasiliev said. "This will make it possible to sell guest cards in various trade networks, museums, kiosks of "Belsoyuzpechat", he added.
The project is actively promoted in other countries, including through embassies, on the Internet, social networks.
"As for its further development, negotiations are being held with other museums in the capital", Vasiliev clarified. "We are also planning to expand the list of the project participants: to involve more restaurants, hotels, department stores, retail chains, gas stations, suburban estates. Thematic cards can also be issued. In addition, we are thinking of combining the guest's card with the student's card, issuing a subscription card "Daddy, Mom, and Me Are a Cultural Family".
The "Guest Card" project is being implemented by the UE "Mingorspravka" and the information and tourist center "Minsk".
