18 September 2019 → Minsk and Krasnoyarsk Conclude a Cooperation Agreement
On September 18, Minsk and Krasnoyarsk concluded an Agreement on Cooperation in Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical, Social and Cultural spheres. The document was signed by the Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Alexander KREPAK and the Head of the city of Krasnoyarsk Sergey EREMIN, the "Minsk-Novosti" Agency correspondent reports.
At the negotiations that took place at the Town Hall, a number of issues were discussed, including the tourism potential of the two cities. Two grand sporting events have recently been held in Minsk: the II European Games and the athletics match Europe - USA. In turn, Krasnoyarsk hosted the Winter Universiade in March. Large-scale competitions and events are to be held in future. Thus, for instance, the Belarusian capital will hold the World Hockey Championship in 2021, and Krasnoyarsk has already started to prepare for a significant date - the 400th Anniversary of the Foundation of the City.
Unfortunately, the two cities are not connected with direct routes yet, however, the distance between them is almost 5 thousand km. Therefore, A. Krepak promised that the city authorities will turn to air carriers to work out the possibility of creating such a flight.
"Trade turnover with the Krasnoyarsk Territory today is about $ 10 million. Since the beginning of the year, exports have grown by 16%, although this is far from an exhaustive indicator," noted A. Krepak. "A number of Belarusian enterprises are interested in creating joint ventures, whereas the Siberians themselves are interested in the supply of Belarusian food products," he added.
A. Krepak said that Belarus supplies to the Krasnoyarsk Territory machinery of "Belkommunmash" and "Amkodor", BelAZ dump trucks and is ready to increase the volumes of its supplies.
According to S. Eremin, despite the fact that Belarusian manufacturers of machinery have already established trade relations, there is a need to look for ways to reduce the cost of other products, as high transportation costs affect the final price. For example, the trucks that go with the goods to Krasnoyarsk can be used more efficiently, transporting additional volumes of products.
In addition, residents of the Siberian Territory have a need for high-quality Belarusian products.
"It is necessary to create a trading house of Belarus or Minsk in Krasnoyarsk. We will work on this topic," promised the Mayor of Krasnoyarsk.
