On September 18, as part of a visit to the Belarusian capital, the official delegation of Murmansk had a meeting with representatives of the Minsk City Executive Committee, the “Minsk-Novosti” Agency correspeindent reports.
The Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Artyom TSURAN took part in the negotiations. He outlined the main points of interaction between Minsk and the capital of the Russian Arctic.
“The cooperation agreement between our cities was concluded quite recently, however, the way the plan of actions, the roadmap and the minutes of mutual meetings are being implemented, indicates the dynamics in our contacts - first of all, in the economic sphere. But there is also a great potential for the development of our relations in the system of education, healthcare and culture,” A. Tsuran noted.
The Deputy Chairman presented one of the visiting cards of the summer cultural and tourist season of Minsk - Days of National Cultures in the Upper City.
“They take place almost weekly in the historical center of the city. We work closely with embassies. This year, the Diplomatic Mission of the Russian Federation actively joined the organization of the Day of Multinational Russia - the event was held on a large-scale,” the Deputy Chairman said and invited the guests to participate in this event next year.
A. Tsuran also recalled that in 2020 our countries will celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Great Victory, and invited the guests from the sister city to exchange delegations in connection with this memorable date. The counter proposal - to bring to Minsk a play about the children of the Great Patriotic War - was voiced by the Deputy Head of Murmansk Administration Lyudmila LEVCHENKO. She also presented a number of events that have already become traditional in Murmansk. In particular, the international cultural and sports festival "Gulf Stream" and the championship in ice swimming.
“The ties of Belarus with the Kola North have been long-standing and strong. Many thousands of Belarusian people forever have become related with this harsh, but surprisingly interesting region. According to the national composition of the population of Murmansk Region, they occupy third place,” concluded Irina KANASH, Chairman of the Committee for Economic Development of the Administration of Murmansk.
At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged souvenirs.
As part of a five-day visit to Minsk, the delegation of Murmansk will visit secondary school No. 51, the Theater of Young Spectators, Minsk Zoo, “MAZ”, the Trostenets Memorial Complex and the cultural and sports complex “Chizhovka-Arena”.
