Minsk intends to develop a public transport network, and the task is to accelerate in this direction. This was announced today by the Сhairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Anatoly Sivak during a meeting at the Town Hall with the Akim of the city of Nur-Sultan Altay Kulginov, the "Minsk-Novosti" Agency correspondent reports.
"In 2020, we will launch the section of the 3rd metro line. We are continuing to introduce electric buses on city routes. At the same time our buses and trolleybuses are working on conventional fuel, the fleet of which is being updated. In past years, insufficient attention was paid to the tram, but now the situation is changing: we will increase the speed of our trams, plan to create a ring route," A. Sivak said sharing his plans.
He also emphasized that foreign experience is very important for Minsk, the capital is ready to study and implement the best practices, especially in urban management. This topic was also discussed during the meeting.
The representatives of the Nur-Sultan delegation were also interested in the Minsk experience in housing construction, the possibility of cultural exchange between cities, the development of tourism, and cooperation in the field of sports.
A. Kulginov recalled that in 2020 our cities will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the agreement on cooperation in the trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian fields. He invited his Minsk colleague to schedule a visit to Nur-Sultan on this round date, during which other areas of cooperation could be discussed.
"Contacts that have already been established must be appreciated and developed. I am sure that such meetings are of benefit to both of our cities," said A. Sivak.
