5 February 2021 → Dmitry MIKULIONOK told about the current stage of the construction of the Gazprom Centre and the National Stadium

When will the Gazprom Centre be completed and what is happening at the grounds of the National Football Stadium and the international standard swimming pool? This, as the correspondent of the agency "Minsk-Novosti" reports, was discussed in the program "Minsk Speaks and Shows" on "Radio-Minsk", where the First Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Dmitry Mikulionok answered the citizens’ questions.

More than five years ago, the construction of the Gazprom Centre began on the site of the demolished "Moskovsky" bus station. The facility has not yet been completed. What's happening to it today?

"The construction is not developing as fast as we would like. The main reason is the investor's underestimation of the situation on the site. There were some inaccuracies in determining the bearing capacity of soils, and it turned out what had happened - we had got a little stuck with pile fields, we had to do a recalculation and strengthening. The lower part of the foundations is now ready, and they are being evaluated again. If all the calculated indicators are confirmed, the construction work will continue," D. Mikulenok commented. - The construction site is supported by our scientific institute, which oversaw the construction of the National Library. Unfortunately, the investor did not immediately draw in this institution, the Russian company had been working before, not having experience in this territory. The final dates for the construction of the Gazprom Centre will be determined when all design solutions are issued."

There were also a series of questions from the city residents regarding sports facilities. It is known that in the area of Orlovskaya Street they are planning to build an indoor ski complex. At what stage is the process now? And at what stage is the construction of the National Stadium in Vaneyev Street and an international standard pool in Kalvariyskaya Street?

"The ski complex is being designed. We expect that in the second quarter of the year the city will be presented with a project for approval and then construction work will begin. As for the stadium and the swimming pool, their stage is approximately the same - the preparation of the territory with the removal of all networks has been completed (this was part of the obligations of the city and the republic). The Chinese side is actively working on the project, test piles are driven in at both sites, the bearing capacity of soils is being studied, and the foundations are being corrected. Also, there is a preparation of household towns for the delivery of equipment, builders. We expect the contractor to enter the site in the nearest future," explained the First Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee.

It should be reminded that the Minsk City Executive Committee together with the agency "Minsk-Novosti" is implementing the project "Ask the City Authorities". Citizens can send their suggestions and questions on the profile of a particular speaker. Answers to key topics are broadcast on the air of "Radio-Minsk" in the program "Minsk Speaks and Shows".

The Deputy Chairmen of the Minsk City Executive Committee Alexander DOROKHOVICH and Yury TRUSCHENKO have already been speakers.
